My hand carving challenge for long classical saddles is to achieve a flat base. This ensures efficient acoustic coupling of the vibrating strings to the guitar top via the bridge slot. In these two saddles, manufactured by me in April 2025, the length is about 80mm. With the minimum height of just over 3.5mm, achieving the slightly sloped top height change is exacting. Our in-house processed and aged bone enables me to attain such geometries and deliver acoustic performance – the bone carves and polishes extremely well and sounds great.
